I continually ask myself the question, ‘what kind of guide would I hire?‘. I've learnt that a good guide is one who is professional, unhurried and has balance in their life in order to guarantee that clients receive the best, most alert and attentive guide possible. Guiding is a very demanding job requiring not just physical, but mental, emotional, and spiritual fitness. There is so much more to take home from your trip than summit glory and I like to take the opportunity of going the extra mile to ensure your complete satisfaction.
My guiding service is personalized to your requirements and comes from over 20 years of expedition experience. My home is in Lake Wanaka, the hub of the Southern Alps climbing community.
When considering your guide, remember that you will be spending a significant amount of time and money with them, so try to build as much rapport and gain as much information about them as possible beforehand. You should only consider going with a guide certified with the NZMGA (New Zealand Mountain Guides Association) to ensure that a high level of skill and expertise has been attained. The NZMGA is a member of The International Federation of Mountain Guide Associations IFMGA or the Union International des Associations de Guides de Montagne UIAGM. The IFMGA/ UIAGM have reviewed and approved the NZMGA assessment and standards process. Given that all mountain guides are assessed to the same standard, the things that set them apart will be their soft skills and ability to nurture a client to their ultimate success.
I will ensure that you are able to get the most out of every mountain trip, whether it is to climb classic overseas alpine routes or to venture deeper into remote areas of the world for unique experiences. The trips to Peru, Nepal and Antarctica that are listed are just some of the adventures on offer.
I regularly consult nutritionists and health experts to help design a delicious and nutritious menu to ensure that your expedition diet contains only the best ingredients to fuel your mountain adventure.
I offer personalized international expeditions to South America. In the Cordillera Blanca of Peru you will benefit from unrivalled personal attention in everything from the guiding ratio (1:1) to logistical support and tailored mountaineering objectives. My itineraries are just some of the options available. Peru is a climbing destination experience that I have a particular fondness for sharing with fellow climbers.
At the conclusion of every trip, I provide you with high-quality photography so that your mountain memories can be shared and savoured again and again.
